ESPY WINNER AND ULTRA ENDURANCE ATHLETE JASON LESTER SIGNS SPONSORSHIP DEAL WITH NIKE
Jason Lester, the 2009 winner of the ESPY for Best Male Athlete with a Disability and the first challenged triathlete to finish the punishing Ultraman World Championships in Hawaii, has signed a one-year sponsorship deal with sports giant Nike.”This is a lifelong dream finally realized,” says Lester, who lost the use of his right arm after being hit by a car when he was teeanger.”My perseverance in my sport has paid off in so many ways, and this is probably the most exciting: teaming up with the number one sports company in the world.”
Lester’s plans are ambitious. He will race EPIC5 from May 5-9, 2011 where he will take on 5 Iron distance Triathlons on 5 Hawaiian islands in 5 Days, followed by the Badwater Ultramarathon in Death Valley, running from Las Vegas to Mt. Whitney, California ( 306 miles ) to raise money and awareness for his H2OPE 2011 ” Badwater for Goodwater ” campaign, accompanied by ultramarathon legend Lisa Smith-Batchen. Lester will finish off his season with EPICMAN CHALLENGE ® December 30th, a 7.2 mile swim, 336 mile bike ride and 78.6 mile run Non – Stop – on the island of Oahu from December 30th – January 1st, Along the way, he will co-produce a film about his life, Chasing Me, work on a documentary and book about EPIC5, and run his Never Stop Foundation. His ultimate goal to raise the funds to build the The EPIC Center in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, a youth sports center that will provide training and guidance to troubled young people.
